Charles, or Charlie to his friends, is one of the people we support in Christchurch. Charlie recently enjoyed a well-deserved holiday in the beautiful city of Wellington, which was both an adventure and a successful reunion with family and fond memories.
During his three-night stay in Wellington, Charlie had a number of opportunities to reconnect with family members, including his brother and sister-in-law. By all accounts, it was a heartwarming experience as they spent quality time together, catching up on life and creating new memories. Reunions are always special occasions, and this one was no exception for Charlie and his family.
But that’s not all! As a former Wellington resident, Charlie was able to take a trip down memory lane by visiting his old workplace, as well as places he knew as a child. He also managed to fit in a visit our national museum Te Papa on the city’s waterfront, a quintessential Wellington experience.
In a message back to our Service Delivery Manager Kalpesh Mahajan, the extended family sent their “heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care and dedication” shown by Sapinder and Gagandeep, Charlie’s support team members who travelled with him. “They both truly understood his needs, likes and dislikes, which made his trip enjoyable.”
The family also noted that that the NZCL team “fitted into our family’s activities and timetable at the same time, making sure Charlie’s needs were taken care of.”
“It’s wonderful to see the photos of Charlie with his family,” said Kalpesh, who organised the trip. “He really made the most of his holiday, and balanced relaxation with meaningful connections.” NZCL is dedicated to enabling disabled people to live good lives, with the support of a range of services.
