Intensive Support Services

NZCL’s Intensive Support Services (ISS) provide fully funded, nationwide residential support for people whose needs require a more tailored approach.

We provide a carefully designed home environment where people can thrive, strengthen family/whānau connections, and work towards greater independence and wellbeing. Our multi-disciplinary team works closely with the people we support and their family/whānau, as well as referrers and other partners, to ensure that everyone’s needs are met.

How we support people

Our multi-disciplinary approach team includes highly trained support staff, registered health practitioners, Positive Behaviour Support planners, and leader teams.

Together, we support people to:

  • Build practical life skills
  • Develop skills to reduce behaviours of concern
  • Develop opportunities for inclusion in community life, education and recreational activities
  • Achieve sustainable, positive long-term outcomes
  • Provide trauma-informed support that recognises past experiences, prioritises emotional safety and empowers people to heal and grow

Locations

Our intensive support services can be accessed across New Zealand, depending on placement availability, funding, and individual needs. Please email us for more information: [email protected]

Fully funded service

Intensive support services are fully funded by Oranga Tamariki, Ministry of Social Development/Disability Support Services, and ACC, for those eligible.

Cultural responsiveness

ISS (Intensive Support Services) embeds cultural responsiveness as a core principle in its framework. This means recognising and respecting the diverse cultural identities of the people ISS supports, especially Māori and Pacific peoples, and ensuring services are inclusive, safe, and empowering.

Referral process

Our specialist team reviews referrals, in partnership with funders and referrers, to ensure the service will be appropriate. Referrals are assessed for needs, urgency and our service capacity. Timeframes for placement may vary, depending on complexity of support needs.
